Markets Update:

U.S. stock futures were little changed on Monday night as investors prepared for a busy week of corporate earnings, with major banks and UnitedHealth scheduled to report results.

S&P 500 futures slipped 0.1%, while Nasdaq-100 futures declined 0.2%. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures gained 17 points.

Asian markets fell sharply on Tuesday. South Korea’s Kospi plunged more than 6%, dropping below 6,000 to its lowest level since July 31, while the Kosdaq declined 4.23%. Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 2.63%, and the Topix lost 0.49%. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 slipped 0.29%.

JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup and Wells Fargo are scheduled to release quarterly earnings before Tuesday’s opening bell. Dow component UnitedHealth will also report results.

These early reports could influence investor sentiment as Wall Street enters an earnings season with high expectations. FactSet estimates that S&P 500 earnings grew nearly 30% from the same period last year.

Investors will closely monitor banks for insights into consumer and business health, technology companies for evidence of artificial intelligence monetization, and energy firms for the sustainability of oil-driven profits.

Tuesday’s economic calendar includes existing home sales data and remarks from Federal Reserve officials Christopher Waller, Tom Barkin and Susan Collins. September inflation data, due later this week, could also influence Treasury yields, which recently reached multidecade highs.

Wall Street ended Monday mixed, with the Dow rising more than 195 points, while declines in memory stocks dragged the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite lower.

 Upcoming Events:

●       2:00 PM    GMT   –   USD  Existing Home Sales
